Chinese mobile handset maker G’Five Mobiles which was founded in year 2003, has announced the launch of G’Five Tablet PC at price below Rs 10,000 in India. It is expected to be available in India by end June 2011. These G’Five tablet PC will have two models – Google’s Android based as well as Microsoft’s Windows based. Android model will be available in two sizes – 7 inches and 10 inches while the Windows model will be available in 10 inches size only. Both the models shall be Wi-Fi and 3G enabled. The company G’Five was ranked as second largest selling mobile handset brand in India after Nokia in the recent International Data Corporation (IDC) report. It replaced Samsung from the second position.
Arshit Pathak, managing director of Kingtech Electronics India Private Ltd, a group company of G’Five International, said -
“G’Five plans to launch its range of tablet computing devices in Indian market by the end of this business quarter which is end of June, 2011. Our business philosophy is to make technology affordable to the common people,”
G’Five – Company History and Background
Company already has presence in around 40000+ retail outlets as well as 500+ direct service centers across the country. Company has further plans for launching tablet PCs, laptops, notebooks, netbooks, music boxes as well as other electronic products in 2011 only. Quite surprisingly, G’Five in its 6-7 years of existence has become number one mobile handsets brand being exported out of China to international market. Company already has more than 300 models with 2 models being launched every week. Some of the creative USP of these models is super slim, double battery, metal surface, extra long stand by and free-to-air TV. G’Five who started with mobile handset as the primary product has already ventured into other electronic consumer goods like laptops, netbooks, music boxes, digital frames etc.
G’Five’s 3G Tablet PC at Rs 10,000 vs Apple’s iPad
It will be interesting to note that Apple recently launched Apple iPad 2 with Wi-Fi at a staring price of Rs 29,500 (16 GB model) while the one with Wi-Fi as well as 3G is priced starting Rs 36,900 (16 GB model). So, once this Rs 10,000 tablet PC reaches India, can we expect these Apples to become a little cheaper. I think, Apple don’t have an option not to bring down the cost.
Do share if would like to prefer buying G’Five tablet PC or Apple’s iPad or would you rather like to wait for Apple slash its iPad prices so that you can buy Apple iPad.
